A Sobering Choice is a community-based youth and adult led coalition dedicated to reducing the incidents of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs among the youth and adults of Shasta County.

We are looking for a few good people who would like to make a difference in their community.  We are “A Sobering Choice Coalition”.  We are a community based youth and adult led coalition dedicated to reducing the incidents of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs among the youth and adults of Shasta County.

We need volunteers to help with our county wide activities and programs.  Just this last year we participated in Fall River High School’s Every 15 Minute program, we brought Real DUI Courts in Schools to Enterprise High School, we participated in lunch time activities involving a DUI crash car at 4 different high schools, we provide the Victim Impact Panel every month at the Shasta County Court house and we speak at various civic group meetings.

Volunteers are needed to expand our reach in Shasta County and focus on prevention and education regarding prescription drug abuse.  We also want to further our education programs focusing on marijuana and alcohol prevention including youth access.

Our Victim Impact Panel (VIP) is in need of victims of DUI crashes who are willing and able to share their story with DUI offenders.  Your stories do make an impact in the reduction of DUI offenders and repeat offenders.  This is not an easy thing to do, but something that can offer the victims support and an opportunity to remember your loved ones.  As a victim myself, I want to know that the loss of my son is making a difference in this community and helping others make better decisions in their lives.  His memory continues to touch lives in Shasta County.

To volunteer, simply give us a call at (530) 241-5958 Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.  Or attend an ASC meeting usually held the last Monday of every month at 5:30p.  Give us a call for location of our meetings and confirmation of dates.  Again, our number is (530) 241-5958.

Become a volunteer and help us protect our youth and make Shasta County a better place for everyone.
